Successful Premiere of the MIRRI-ERIC Voices Webinar Series: First Episode Now Available

MIRRI-ERIC is delighted to celebrate the successful premiere of the first episode of the "MIRRI-ERIC Voices" webinar series, a new initiative from MIRRI-ERIC designed to highlight the expertise, services, and impact of partners across the network.

The strong interest in this inaugural session, with more than 50 participants, marks an exciting start for the series, which aims to give visibility to the people, knowledge, and infrastructures that support microbial resource research across Europe. "MIRRI-ERIC Voices" provides a platform for nodes and collaborators to present their work, share scientific and technical insights, and foster dialogue within the community.

The first episode focused on cyanobacterial taxonomy and featured speakers from the Belgium Node of MIRRI-ERIC. It was hosted by Annick Wilmotte (Director of BCCM/ULC, Université de Liège) and Maria Christodoulou (Curator of BCCM/ULC, Université de Liège).

The webinar explored the development of cyanobacterial classification from historical foundations to modern approaches, while also underscoring the importance of accurate taxonomy for research, biodiversity studies, and biotechnology. It highlights the role of culture collections and research infrastructures in preserving high-quality microbial resources and associated data for the scientific community.

The enthusiastic reception of this first episode reflects the value of creating spaces where MIRRI-ERIC partners can exchange knowledge and showcase their contributions. The "MIRRI-ERIC Voices" series will continue to spotlight expertise from across the network in the months ahead, and the next episode, which will be held on March 12, will be disseminated for registration soon.

If you missed the premiere of the webinar series, take the chance to see it on our YouTube channel. Watch the two presentations delivered in the first episode here.

We invite researchers, partners, and stakeholders to follow the series and stay connected for upcoming webinars featuring more voices from the MIRRI-ERIC community.
