The fifth episode of "MIRRI-ERIC Voices" will be hosted by the Romanian Node of MIRRI-ERIC, featuring a one-hour presentation and Q&A delivered by Amalia Stefaniu, National Node Coordinator for MIRRI-RO, an Observer state of MIRRI-ERIC, and General Director of ICCF, which holds CMII.
Established in 1952, the CMII - Culture Collection of Industrial Importance Microorganisms holds over 400 strains of bacteria, yeasts, and fungi. Since 1981, CMII has been registered at the World Federation of Culture Collections, focusing on strains of industrial importance, as producers of pharmaceutical and similar ingredients, biochemicals, as well as for veterinary and agrochemical use.
Amalia Stefaniu joined the National Institute for Chemical Pharmaceutical Research and Development (ICCF) in Bucharest in 2001, where she worked first as a Chemical Research Engineer in the Pharmaceutical Biotechnologies Department. Her areas of research and specialisation include property prediction, mathematical modelling, molecular docking, and the design of therapeutic compounds. Her current position is General Director of the Institute and National Node Coordinator of MIRRI-RO.
