MIRRI-ERIC Announces Post-Doctoral Research and Innovation Fellowship (BIPD) Opportunity

MIRRI-ERIC is pleased to announce a new career opportunity for a highly motivated researcher to join its headquarters in Braga, Portugal, as an Access Officer within the MIRRI Access Lab – Nano Access Pilot.

The position is offered as a Post-Doctoral Research and Innovation Fellowship (BIPD) under the MIRRI-ERIC Scientific Programme 2026. The successful candidate will play a central role in implementing the MIRRI Access Lab, an ambitious pilot initiative designed to validate the future operational model for MIRRI-Services and establish the foundations of a sustainable European access programme.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating the development of the pilot MIRRI service portfolio;
  • Managing the pilot access call and supporting applicants throughout the evaluation process;
  • Acting as the primary liaison between users and service providers;
  • Supporting the validation of MIRRI's sustainable service delivery and business model;
  • Contributing to governance, quality assurance and digital access workflows;
  • Preparing reports, recommendations and strategic documentation supporting future European access programmes.

Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in Life Sciences, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics or a related field, awarded within the last three years, and demonstrate experience in European or international research projects, scientific service coordination or research infrastructures. Strong project management, communication and organisational skills, together with excellent written and spoken English, are essential.

The fellowship is based at the MIRRI-ERIC Headquarters in Braga, Portugal, with a planned start date of 1 October 2026. The appointment is for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal up to a maximum of 36 months, and includes a monthly fellowship allowance of €1,951, in accordance with the FCT Regulation for Studentships and Fellowships.
