MIRRI-ERIC Voices Webinar Ep. 1: Cyanobacterial Taxonomy
2026, Jan 21 15:00 - 2026, Jan 21 16:00
MIRRI-ERIC is pleased to invite you to the premiere of the webinar series "MIRRI-ERIC Voices", which will be focused on the theme of cyanobacterial taxonomy.
"MIRRI-ERIC Voices" gives the stage to MIRRI-ERIC’s Partners to present their work, achievements, and innovations in the microbial world. Each episode features one MIRRI-ERIC partner’s chosen theme, offering insight into its unique contributions to the Consortium and to the European research landscape and promoting knowledge exchange across the MIRRI-ERIC network and the field of culture collection.
The first episode of "MIRRI-ERIC Voices" will be hosted by the Belgium Node of MIRRI-ERIC, featuring a one-hour presentation and Q&A delivered by Annick Wilmotte (Director of BCCM/ULC, Université de Liège) and Maria Christodoulou (Curator of BCCM/ULC, Université de Liège).
Belgian Coordinated Collections of Microorganisms (BCCM), which operates as MIRRI-ERIC Belgium and brings together seven culture collections, will present an episode divided into two parts. Wilmotte will address the community about "The schizophrenic history of cyanobacterial taxonomy". Then, Christodoulou will present "Blending the past and the present: How are new cyanobacterial taxa described in the modern era?".
Date: 21 January 2026
Time: 15:00 (CET)
