Belgium is a founding member of MIRRI-ERIC since 2022, with partner institutions integrated under the umbrella of the Belgian Coordinated Collections of Microorganisms (BCCM). The MIRRI-Belgium Node plays a crucial role in preserving and supplying microbial and genetic resources, offering scientific services and conducting research activities.
 
The coordination cell provides essential support in areas such as quality management, information management, regulatory affairs, external communication and international cooperation. The entire BCCM consortium operates under a multi-site ISO 9001-certified management system, ensuring high standards in microbial resource management.
